Citi ThankYou points now transfer to Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles with a 40% bonus. The offer runs November 1 through November 30, 2026, and it is Turkish Airlines — not Citi — that carries the offer on its campaign page. On a premium Citi card, every 1,000 ThankYou points becomes 1,400 Miles&Smiles miles once the bonus lands.

The headline is real, but the timing is the story. Turkish Airlines states in its campaign terms that the miles earned during the campaign will be credited after the campaign ends, and it gives no posting date. The bonus cannot fund a booking you need in November. Treat it as a December top-up, not as miles in hand.

The second catch is the card you hold. The 1,400-mile figure is for premium cards only. Cards with no annual fee transfer at a lower base ratio, so the same 1,000 points earn far fewer miles even with the bonus applied. Check your card tier before you move a single point.

Exact offer and eligibility

  • Bonus: 40% extra Miles&Smiles miles on ThankYou points converted to Miles&Smiles miles. No extra Status Miles are awarded.
  • Window: November 1 through November 30, 2026, ending November 30 at 11:59 p.m. Türkiye time (UTC+3) — 3:59 p.m. Eastern.
  • Premium cards: Citi Strata Elite, Citi Strata Premier, Prestige, and AT&T Access More transfer at 1,000 points to 1,000 miles before the bonus, so 1,000 points become 1,400 miles with the bonus.
  • No-annual-fee cards: Citi ThankYou Preferred, Citi Strata, Citi Double Cash, Citi Custom Cash, Citi ThankYou Mastercard, and the AT&T Universal and AT&T Access cards transfer at 1,000 points to 700 miles before the bonus. Turkish Airlines draws no distinction between card tiers in its campaign terms, so the 40% applies to the miles the transfer earns: 700 miles plus 280 bonus miles, or 980 miles per 1,000 points, on the arithmetic. Turkish Airlines does not spell out the no-fee figure, so confirm the ratio shown for your card before transferring.
  • Minimum and increments: 1,000 ThankYou points minimum, in 1,000-point increments.
  • Cap: a maximum of 50,000 extra miles under the offer. On a premium card, transferring 125,000 points earns the full 50,000 bonus miles, for 175,000 miles in total.
  • Membership: the offer is only valid for Miles&Smiles members. Non-members must register for Miles&Smiles first. Turkish Airlines lists no separate enrollment step for the campaign itself.
  • Finality: points transfers cannot be cancelled or reversed, and transferred points cannot be converted back to ThankYou points.
  • Other terms: the campaign cannot be combined with any other Turkish Airlines campaign, and Turkish Airlines reserves the right to change the terms or cancel the offer at any time.

The math: 47,000 points on paper, 65,000 points in hand

The best use of Miles&Smiles miles on Turkish Airlines metal is the promotional business-class price between Türkiye and North America: 65,000 miles one way. That is the promotional column on Turkish Airlines award chart. The standard business-class price in the next column is 135,000 miles, more than double. The 65,000-mile price is the deal; do not price a trip at 65,000 miles and assume the standard price will match it.

On paper, with the 40% bonus, a 65,000-mile promotional award costs 47,000 premium-card points. Divide 65,000 by 1.4 and round up to the next 1,000-point increment: 47,000 points become 47,000 base miles plus 18,800 bonus miles, or 65,800 miles in total. On a no-annual-fee card, the same award takes 67,000 points: 67,000 points become 46,900 base miles plus 18,760 bonus miles, or 65,660 miles.

None of that helps if the seat must be booked in November. The bonus miles arrive after the campaign ends, on no stated date, so a booking made in November can only use the base miles already in the account. To hold a 65,000-mile promotional seat before the bonus posts, a premium cardholder must transfer 65,000 points for 65,000 base miles, and a no-annual-fee cardholder must transfer 93,000 points for 65,100 base miles. The bonus then arrives later as extra miles for a future trip, not as part of this booking.

There is one more surprise waiting on Citi's side. Citi's public transfer listing still shows only the standard ratios — 1,000 to 1,000 on premium cards, 1,000 to 700 on no-annual-fee cards — with no mention of the 40% bonus. That is consistent with an offer that lives on Turkish Airlines' page and credits after the campaign ends, but it means there is nothing on Citi's screen to confirm the bonus at the moment of transfer. Keep a record of Turkish Airlines' campaign terms before transferring.

Taxes and carrier-imposed charges sit on top of the miles, and Turkish Airlines' award terms state that taxes may vary with the departure point and the cabin. Price the full cash total of the exact award before transferring. Miles transferred speculatively lose their flexibility permanently, and the bonus miles cannot rescue a booking that was never priced.

Who benefits—and who should skip it

Benefits: Premium-card holders planning travel in 2027 who can wait until December for the bonus miles to post, and who have already priced a specific Turkish Airlines or Star Alliance award. Travelers who already hold most of the miles for a 65,000-mile promotional business seat, and need only a top-up, get the most from this offer, because the base miles they transfer now can hold the seat while the bonus arrives later. Anyone sitting on a large ThankYou balance with a priced Istanbul trip in 2027 should run the cap math: 125,000 points maxes out the bonus on a premium card, and points transferred beyond that earn no further bonus miles.

Should skip it: Anyone who needs to book in November and is counting on the bonus miles to reach the award price — the bonus will not be there in time. No-annual-fee cardholders who assumed the headline 1,400-mile figure applies to them; on the arithmetic they earn 980 miles per 1,000 points, and Turkish Airlines does not state the no-fee figure outright. Travelers without a priced award, or who would transfer more than 125,000 premium-card points expecting the bonus to keep scaling. And anyone who has not checked that the promotional 65,000-mile price — not the 135,000-mile standard price — is available on their dates.

Awardtrail analysis

This is a strong bonus with a delayed fuse, and the delay is the whole decision. A 40% bonus is generous by transfer-bonus standards, and the cap math is generous: 125,000 points become 175,000 miles on a premium card. But a bonus that posts after November 30, on no stated date, is worthless for a November booking, and Turkish Airlines' own terms say nothing about a posting date, a card-tier distinction, or the bonus appearing on Citi's transfer screen.

Before transferring, do three things. First, confirm the card tier and ratio Citi shows for your card — 1,000 to 1,000 or 1,000 to 700 — because that ratio decides whether the bonus is worth 1,400 or 980 miles per 1,000 points. Second, price the exact award, including taxes and charges, and confirm whether the 65,000-mile promotional price or the 135,000-mile standard price applies on your dates. Third, transfer only the base miles needed to book now, and treat the bonus as a December arrival for a later trip. Transferring on the headline number alone, before the award is priced, turns a good bonus into stranded miles.

Why This Matters for Your Strategy

News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.

As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
