What is the Chase 5/24 rule?
The Chase 5/24 rule is an unwritten underwriting policy where Chase will automatically deny applications for any of its credit cards if you have opened 5 or more new revolving credit card accounts across any issuer in the past 24 months.
Do business credit cards count toward Chase 5/24?
Most business credit cards (including Chase Ink, Amex Business, and Citi Business) do not report to personal credit bureaus and do not add to your 5/24 count. However, you must generally be under 5/24 to be approved for a new Chase business card.
What is the American Express 2/90 rule?
The Amex 2/90 rule dictates that American Express will not approve an applicant for more than two consumer or business credit cards within any rolling 90-day window.
How does the Marriott Bonvoy credit card eligibility rule work?
Because both Chase and American Express issue Marriott Bonvoy credit cards, cross-issuer restrictions apply. Receiving a welcome bonus on a Chase Marriott card typically makes you ineligible for a bonus on select Amex Marriott cards (and vice versa) for 24 months.
