Alaska Airlines and Bank of America quietly raised the welcome offer on the premium Atmos Rewards card on October 21, 2026. The Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite now offers 100,000 bonus points plus a 25,000-point Global Companion Award after spending 6,000 dollars or more in the first 90 days of account opening. The annual fee is 395 dollars, and no end date is published.
The headline looks like a straightforward upgrade. The previous Summit offer was 70,000 points plus the same 25,000-point companion award after 3,000 dollars in 90 days. The new offer adds 30,000 points — but it doubles the spending requirement to get them. That trade is the whole story: this is a bigger bonus that is harder to earn, and for many applicants the old deal was actually the better one per dollar spent.
The companion award is the second half of the bonus and the part most people will misunderstand. It is not 25,000 free points. It is a discount of up to 25,000 points off a companion's award ticket when you travel together, and any unused portion is forfeited if the companion's ticket costs less than 25,000 points. Treat the offer as 100,000 points plus a conditional discount, not as a 125,000-point bonus.
Exact offer and eligibility
- Bonus: 100,000 Atmos Rewards bonus points plus a 25,000-point Global Companion Award, after spending 6,000 dollars or more on purchases within the first 90 days of account opening.
- Annual fee: 395 dollars, not waived in the first year.
- End date: none published — the offer is described as a limited-time online offer, so it can be pulled without notice.
- Earning: 3 points per dollar on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases, eligible dining, and eligible foreign transactions; 1 point per dollar on everything else.
- Relationship bonus: 10 percent more points on all card purchases if you hold an eligible Bank of America checking or savings account.
- Status earning: 10,000 status points every account anniversary, plus 1 status point for every 2 dollars spent on the card.
- Travel perks: free checked bag for the cardholder and up to six guests on the same reservation on Alaska and Hawaiian flights, priority boarding, no foreign transaction fees, eight Alaska Lounge passes and eight inflight Wi-Fi passes per year (two of each per quarter), and the 12.50-dollar partner award booking fee waived.
- Annual companion award: a fresh 25,000-point Global Companion Award every card anniversary, plus a companion award worth up to 100,000 points after 60,000 dollars of spending in a card anniversary year.
- Eligibility: Bank of America limits how many of its cards you can open in a given window, so check your standing before applying. Holding another Atmos card does not by itself disqualify you from this bonus.
The math: a bigger bonus that pays less per dollar
Do the spend math before you celebrate the extra 30,000 points. The old offer paid 70,000 points for 3,000 dollars of spend — about 23 points per dollar of required spend. The new offer pays 100,000 points for 6,000 dollars — about 17 points per dollar. You are spending twice as much for 43 percent more points, and the marginal 3,000 dollars of extra spend buys only those 30,000 extra points, or 10 points per dollar.
At a reasonable value of 1.5 cents per Atmos point, the 100,000-point bonus is worth about 1,500 dollars. The companion award is worth up to 375 dollars — but only if you actually use the full 25,000-point discount on a companion's award ticket. Together that is up to 1,875 dollars of value against a 395-dollar fee, or about 1,480 dollars net in the best case. If you travel solo, or your companion's award costs less than 25,000 points, the real value drops toward 1,105 dollars net — still strong, but no longer the headline number.
Compare the cheaper sibling, launched the same day. The Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature offers up to 80,000 points plus a 99-dollar Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from 23 dollars): 60,000 points after 3,000 dollars in 90 days, plus 20,000 more after 5,000 dollars total in the same 90 days. Its fee is 95 dollars. The Ascent's companion benefit is the classic paid-fare version — a companion flies on a paid ticket for 99 dollars plus taxes — while the Summit's award is a points discount on an award ticket, usable across Alaska, Hawaiian, oneworld, and partner airlines. They are different tools, and the Ascent's 80,000 points for 5,000 dollars (16 points per dollar) is no more efficient than the Summit's new offer.
One more catch from Alaska's own recent history: the companion award is an award-ticket discount, not a companion fare code, and it only helps if you book award travel for two people. A solo traveler gets nothing from it. And the 90-day window is short — 6,000 dollars in 90 days means 2,000 dollars a month, every month, starting from account opening, not from when the card arrives.
Where you apply matters as much as when. Bank of America's own card page currently shows the previous offer — 70,000 points plus the same 25,000-point companion award after 3,000 dollars in 90 days — while the 100,000-point offer appears on Alaska's Atmos Rewards card pages. Same card, same issuer, two different bonuses depending on which door you walk through. If you apply through the wrong page, you get the smaller bonus, so check the offer printed on your application before you submit.
Who benefits—and who should skip it
Apply if: you fly Alaska or Hawaiian at least a few times a year, you travel with a companion on award tickets, and you can put 2,000 dollars a month of real spending on the card in its first three months. The 3 points per dollar on all foreign transactions is genuinely rare — most cards pay 1 point on foreign spend — so frequent international travelers get ongoing value long after the bonus posts. Status chasers also win: 10,000 anniversary status points plus 1 per 2 dollars spent is the fastest card-based path to Atmos elite status.
Skip it if: you fly solo, you cannot comfortably clear 6,000 dollars in 90 days without manufactured spending, or you already hold a premium airline card at a similar fee and would not use the lounge passes, the free bags for up to six guests, or the annual companion award. If the companion award does not fit your travel, the honest comparison is 100,000 points for a 395-dollar fee and 6,000 dollars of spend — good, but not the 1,875-dollar headline.
Awardtrail analysis
This is one of the strongest airline-card offers available right now, and the Summit remains the best premium Alaska card by a wide margin — its 395-dollar fee undercuts Delta, United, and American's premium cards by 255 to 300 dollars a year. But do not let the round 100,000 number do your thinking. The old 70,000-point offer for half the spend was the more efficient deal, and the companion award only pays out if you book award travel for two. Apply only if the 6,000-dollar spend is money you would spend anyway, confirm the offer terms on the application page before submitting — offer amounts have varied by channel — and book the companion award trip before assuming its value. If the spend is a stretch, the Ascent's 95-dollar fee and 80,000-point offer is the saner play.
