Capital One has put its biggest Venture X Business welcome offer of the year on the table. Starting October 20, 2026, eligible new cardholders can earn up to 300,000 bonus miles plus a $1,000 Capital One Business Travel credit — a package Capital One advertises as up to $4,300 in travel value.

The catch is the structure. The 300,000 miles are split into two tiers, and the second tier is where the headline lives: the full 300,000 miles plus the $1,000 credit require $120,000 in spending within the first four months of account opening. That is $30,000 a month, every month, for four straight months.

The first tier is far more reachable: 150,000 bonus miles after $40,000 in spending in the first four months. Note that this is actually tougher than the standing offer it replaces — until October 19, new cardholders could earn 150,000 miles after just $30,000 in three months. The anniversary offer raised the first-tier spend bar by a third while stretching the window by one month.

This is a limited-time offer tied to the card's third anniversary. Capital One has published no end date, so it could vanish as quickly as it arrived.

Exact offer and eligibility

  • Tier 1: Earn 150,000 bonus miles after spending $40,000 on purchases in the first four months from account opening.
  • Tier 2: Earn an additional 150,000 bonus miles plus a $1,000 Capital One Business Travel credit after spending $120,000 total on purchases in the first four months from account opening.
  • Annual fee: $395, not waived the first year.
  • The $1,000 credit: applied to your Capital One Business Travel balance within two billing cycles of hitting the spend, usable only on bookings through Capital One Business Travel, and it expires 16 months after account opening.
  • Eligibility: available only to eligible new cardholders approved during the promotional period. Capital One's own footnotes warn the bonus "may not be available for existing or previous Capital One Business card holders" — start the application from the official card page, since navigating away can change which offer you see. Capital One generally approves only one card per applicant every six months, personal and business combined.
  • No published end date. The offer is advertised as "limited time only."
  • Ongoing card benefits: unlimited 2X miles on every purchase; 10X on hotels and rental cars and 5X on flights booked through Capital One Business Travel; a $300 annual travel credit through the portal; 10,000 anniversary bonus miles each year; Capital One Lounge and Landings access plus Priority Pass; up to a $120 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit every four years; fourth night free at Premier and Lifestyle Collection hotels on stays of four nights or more; Hertz President's Circle status. No preset spending limit and no foreign transaction fees.

The math: the second 150,000 miles are the expensive ones

Do the math per tier and the offer tells two very different stories. Tier 1 gives 150,000 bonus miles on $40,000 of spend — 3.75 bonus miles per dollar before the card's own 2X base earning. At a realistic 1.7 cents per Capital One mile, that is about $2,550 in miles, roughly a 9.8% return on the $40,000 including the base earn. That is genuinely strong for a card anyone with serious business spending can actually use.

Tier 2 is where the headline misleads. The incremental $80,000 of spend earns an incremental 150,000 miles (about $2,550 in value) plus the $1,000 travel credit — $3,550 of value for $80,000 of spending, a marginal return of about 4.4%. You are spending twice as much to earn the same number of miles as tier 1, and the $1,000 credit is locked to the Capital One travel portal and dies 16 months after account opening.

At the full $120,000, the haul is formidable: 300,000 bonus miles plus 240,000 base miles from the 2X earning — 540,000 miles, about $9,180 at 1.7 cents — plus $1,300 in travel credits against the $395 fee. But do not confuse the headline: this is not a 300,000-mile bonus for $120,000 of spend. It is a 150,000-mile bonus for $40,000 with a second, much more expensive bonus bolted on.

Two more reality checks. First, this is not the card's all-time high: from November 2025 to January 2026, the card offered up to 400,000 miles (200,000 after $30,000 in three months, plus 200,000 more after $150,000 in six). Second, Capital One miles transfer to 19 airline and hotel partners at 1:1 — unlike some bank points, these are flexible currency, which is what makes the first tier genuinely valuable.

Who benefits—and who should skip it

Benefits: businesses with $10,000-plus in monthly organic spend — agencies, consultancies, inventory-heavy sellers, anyone already running six figures through business cards. If you can clear $120,000 in four months without manufactured spending or prepaying things you would not otherwise buy, the full package is worth roughly $6,100 in miles and credit at a 1.7-cent valuation, and the card keeps earning 2X on everything afterward with lounge access to match.

Skip it: sole proprietors with a few thousand a month in real spend — you will not reach even tier 1's $40,000, and chasing it invites the exact kind of manufactured or prepaid spending that gets welcome bonuses clawed back. Also skip if you already hold other Capital One business cards: the footnotes warn the bonus may not be available to existing or previous Capital One Business cardholders, and Capital One's one-card-per-six-months rule means this application blocks your next one. If the $120,000 tier is out of reach, judge the offer purely on tier 1 — 150,000 miles for $40,000 — which is still worse than the 150,000-for-$30,000 offer that was live last week.

Awardtrail analysis

This is a good offer wearing a great headline. The honest framing is "150,000 miles for $40,000 in four months" — the second tier exists for businesses whose card spend already exceeds $30,000 a month, not for anyone chasing a bonus. Before applying, confirm the offer appears when you start the application from Capital One's official card page (navigating away can show a different bonus), verify you are not disqualified as an existing or previous Capital One Business cardholder, and map out four months of real spend. The $1,000 credit is portal-only and time-limited, so do not count it as cash. If the numbers work, this is the best Venture X Business offer of 2026 — just remember the 400,000-mile version existed ten months ago, and limited-time Capital One offers have a habit of returning in some form.
