But the new policy clarifies that you can earn a bonus on each card, one time per card, even if you already have the other!

Basically, if you have the Sapphire Preferred, you'll be able to apply for the Reserve and snag that bonus too (and vice versa). The key takeaway? You can score two juicy bonuses instead of being limited to just one across the Sapphire family.

There are a couple of caveats. You still can't get the same bonus on the same card twice. So, if you've already had the Sapphire Reserve and earned its bonus, you won't be able to get it again on that specific card. Also, it is unclear whether Chase's infamous "Pop-Up Jail" (where you're denied a bonus seemingly at random) will still exist. But overall, this is a fantastic change for anyone playing the credit card rewards game!
