HSBC just made its two US credit cards a lot more interesting. The bank is running limited-time elevated welcome bonuses on both the HSBC Elite World Elite Mastercard and the HSBC Premier World Mastercard — 75,000 points on the Elite and 60,000 points on the Premier, each unlocked after $4,000 in new purchases within the first three months of account opening. The elevated offers apply to applications submitted between October 1, 2026 and January 15, 2027; outside that window, the standard bonuses are 60,000 points (Elite) and 50,000 points (Premier).
The Elite: 75,000 points, $495 fee
The premium play. New Elite cardholders earn 75,000 Welcome Bonus Points — worth up to $900 in travel when booked through HSBC Travel — after charging $4,000 or more in the first three months. The card carries a $495 annual fee for the primary cardholder (authorized users are free), with the fee rebated for Private Banking clients.
Beyond the bonus, the Elite keeps paying: an automatic $100 travel credit for every $2,000 in cumulative travel purchases booked through HSBC Travel, up to $400 a year in statement credits. One catch from the fine print: if you've opened the same card product within the last 36 months, you're not eligible for the welcome bonus, and the bonus doesn't apply to account upgrades or transfers.
The Premier: 60,000 points, $95 fee
The accessible play. New Premier cardholders earn 60,000 Welcome Bonus Points — worth up to $625 in travel — after the same $4,000-in-three-months spending requirement. The annual fee is $95, and the earn rates are strong for the price: 3 points per dollar on gas and groceries, 2 points per dollar on travel, and 1 point per dollar everywhere else, with no caps.
The gate you can't skip
Neither card is available to the general public. The Premier requires a qualifying US HSBC Premier banking relationship; the Elite requires a qualifying Premier or Private Bank relationship. If you don't bank with HSBC in the US, these offers are out of reach — the relationship comes first, the cards second.
AwardTrail analysis
The limited-time framing is what makes this interesting. The Elite's 75,000-point bonus is a meaningful step up from its standard 60,000 — at up to $900 in travel value, it now talks to the big issuers' premium-card offers, and the $400-a-year travel credit stack keeps working long after the bonus posts. The Premier's jump from 50,000 to 60,000 points at a $95 fee is arguably the sharper deal: 20% more bonus for a card whose 3x gas and grocery earn already punches above its price.
Watch the calendar, though. These elevated numbers die with applications submitted after January 15, 2027, and HSBC notes the offers can be amended or withdrawn at any time. The 36-month same-product exclusion also means this is a one-shot bonus per card — time your application for when you can clear the $4,000 comfortably.
What to do right now
If you hold a US HSBC Premier or Private Bank relationship, the window is open until January 15, 2027: the Elite if you want the 75,000-point bonus and travel credits against the $495 fee, the Premier if you want 60,000 points at a $95 fee with strong everyday earn rates. Confirm the current offer terms on HSBC's site before applying — limited-time card promotions can change or be withdrawn.

Why This Matters for Your Strategy
News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.
As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
