Bank of America Boosts Cash Back on Popular Cards (Plus, Maybe World Cup Tickets!)
Published on December 5, 2025, 9:00 PM
Heads up, cash back fans! Starting June 1, 2025, Bank of America is sweetening the deal on their Customized Cash Rewards and Unlimited Cash Rewards cards for new applicants. You'll still snag the usual $200 bonus after spending $1,000 in 90 days, but the *real* perk is a year of boosted cash back.
With the Unlimited Cash Rewards card, you'll get 2% cash back on *everything* for the first year, instead of the usual 1.5%. The Customized Cash Rewards card gets even more interesting, bumping the cash back in your chosen category (think gas, online shopping, dining, etc.) up to 6% for a year (normally 3%), and giving you 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs. Note the 6% and 2% categories have a combined limit of $2,500 each quarter. There's also a 0% intro APR for 15 billing cycles. But wait, there's more! If you apply between December 4, 2025, and January 5, 2026, you *might* get early access to purchase FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets.
Why should you care? Well, if you've been eyeing either of these cards, now's the time to jump! That extra cash back can add up quickly, especially if you strategically use the Customized Cash Rewards card and maximize that 6% category. Also, if you're a Bank of America Preferred Rewards member with Platinum Honors status, you might even get a *further* boost to those rates (we're talking potentially 8.25%-10.5% in your chosen category!). One thing to note: Preferred Rewards bonuses do NOT apply to the first-year bonus. Keep an eye out for the official launch and decide if these boosted rates fit your spending habits!
