Air Canada Aeroplan Card: Is This Massive Bonus Worth the Spend?

Chase and Air Canada are dangling a huge carrot – 100,000 Aeroplan points – with their Aeroplan card! You'll snag 75,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months, then another 25,000 points after a whopping $20,000 total spend within the first year. The card itself earns 3x points on groceries, dining (including delivery!), and Air Canada purchases, plus 1x on everything else, along with a 500-point bonus for every $2,000 spent (up to 1500 points a month). There's also a $95 annual fee.
Why should you care? Well, Aeroplan points can unlock some sweet travel, especially if you're into flying Air Canada or their partners. This card offers perks like free checked bags, credits for Global Entry/TSA PreCheck, and preferred pricing on flight rewards. Plus, you’ll automatically get Aeroplan 25k status, which can make travel smoother with perks like priority check-in and boarding. However, the high spending requirement to get the full bonus is a big drawback. The Doctor of Credit thinks the previous 85,000-point offer with only $4,000 spend was better and is not adding this to their list of best credit card bonuses. So, consider if you can realistically hit that $20,000 mark before jumping in!
