Amex Asks for More Tax Info...Even After Your Account's Reopened?!
Published on November 13, 2025, 9:03 PM
American Express is digging deeper with financial reviews, folks! It looks like some cardholders who ALREADY went through a financial review and got their accounts back are now being asked to submit IRS form 4506-C. This form allows the IRS to directly send your tax information to Amex. Why does this matter to you? Well, if you've had a financial review with Amex (or even if you haven't *yet*), be prepared that they might ask for this form. It's unclear what's triggering these requests or how far back Amex is looking, but it seems to be happening even months after an account has been reinstated. It might be nothing, but it could signal a new level of scrutiny from Amex and other banks like Citi, who've also been known to ask for this form. Keep those receipts handy, folks!
