Heads up, deal hunters! Google Play is quietly offering some sweet discounts on gift cards for popular brands like Disney, DoorDash, GameStop, Lowe's, Nordstrom, and more! Check your Google Play app (you'll need an Android device or emulator) by clicking on your profile icon and then "Gift Cards." You might find discounts ranging from 10% to 20% off.
Why is this important? Well, if you're already planning on spending money at these stores, this is basically free money! You can potentially buy gift cards at a discount and use them later for your purchases, stacking the savings. The article also mentions a possible PayPal deal for extra points when you spend $5+ on Google Play, making this even sweeter. Just a heads up – you can't use your Google Play balance to buy these gift cards. Happy shopping!
Why This Matters for Your Strategy
News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.
As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
