Spirit Airlines is trying to tempt you with a new offer: buy Free Spirit points and get up to an 80% bonus! This sale runs until January 13, 2026, and could bring the cost down to about 1.49 cents per point. Seems good, right? Well, hold your horses before you pull out your credit card.

While a big bonus always sounds appealing, buying points speculatively is risky. You need to have a specific redemption in mind to make sure it's actually worth it. Consider that Spirit's award prices fluctuate, and there's no guarantee that sweet deal you're eyeing now will still be available when you're ready to book.

Ultimately, whether this sale is worthwhile depends on your travel plans and how well you know Spirit's award pricing. If you have a specific, immediate use for a chunk of points, and this bonus gets you a significant discount compared to paying cash, then go for it. Otherwise, it might be best to sit this one out. Don't get caught holding a bunch of points you can't use!
