6% Interest? Yes, Please! But Proceed With Caution...

The Credit Union of New Jersey is offering a whopping 6% APY on savings accounts with balances up to $25,000! That's an amazing rate in today's market, blowing most high-yield savings accounts out of the water. To get the 6% APY, you need to jump through a few hoops each month: make at least one direct deposit, ACH transfer, or bill payment, and make at least 12 debit card purchases (PIN or signature-based). Plus, you'll need to enroll in e-statements.
Now, here's the catch. To join the Credit Union of New Jersey, you either need to join the Credit Union of New Jersey Foundation for $5 or be a member of the American Consumer Council (ACC). It also seems to be a hard pull on your credit report, which can slightly ding your score. Approvals for out-of-state or online applications can also be difficult. Since it's been at 6% since at least 2023, and if this deal gets too popular, the rate could drop quickly.
So, is it worth it? If you can easily meet the requirements and don't mind a hard pull, it's a fantastic opportunity to earn serious interest. Just be aware of the potential downsides and keep an eye on the rate. This is definitely one to watch if you're hunting for the best place to stash your cash!
