Etihad Guest Account Suspensions: A Warning Before You Transfer Points!
Published on November 15, 2025, 9:09 PM
Etihad Guest, the loyalty program of Etihad Airways, has some sweet spots, like booking American Airlines flights for as little as 6,000 miles. Plus, it's a transfer partner of many popular credit card rewards programs, making it easy to accumulate miles. Sounds great, right? Well, hold your horses! AwardWallet Blog has reported instances of Etihad Guest suspending accounts without warning when members try to redeem miles in ways that Etihad doesn't seem to like. The specific "ways" aren't clearly defined, making it a real gamble. This is a HUGE deal because you could transfer a bunch of valuable points into Etihad Guest, only to find your account locked and your miles inaccessible. Essentially, Etihad is suspending accounts with no communication if they feel you are redeeming miles in a way they don't like. Since this is all so opaque, it's a major red flag. Before you transfer any points to Etihad Guest, seriously consider the risk. Those points might be better off elsewhere!
