British Airways Avios Awards Getting More Expensive: Time to Book Now!
Published on December 3, 2025, 9:06 PM
British Airways just dropped a bombshell: Starting December 15th, the cost of reward flights using Avios (their version of frequent flyer miles) is going up. Both the number of Avios *and* the cash you need to pay on top of the miles are increasing. While the increase is around 10%, it's still money (and miles!) out of your pocket. This is a bummer if you've been hoarding Avios for a dream trip, especially for popular routes like London to New York. A roundtrip off-peak flight that currently costs 50,000 Avios + £100 will jump to 55,000 Avios + £120. It might not sound like much, but these little increases add up, especially if you're booking for a family. The takeaway? If you're planning to use Avios on British Airways, get booking ASAP! Lock in those flights *before* December 15th to snag the current, lower prices. This is a classic example of why it pays to stay informed in the world of travel rewards – a little planning can save you a lot.
