Robinhood is dangling a 2.5% bonus carrot for crypto transfers, but there's a catch (or two!). If you're a Robinhood member, you might be targeted for this offer, which gives you that sweet bonus if you transfer your crypto to their platform. The big stipulation? You gotta keep those assets parked with Robinhood for a year and a half (18 months).
Here's why this matters to you: While that 2.5% sounds tempting, especially on a larger transfer, it comes with crypto risk. The only stablecoin offered by Robinhood (USDC) is excluded from the offer. Plus, you're betting that your chosen cryptocurrency won't tank in value during those 18 months. One potential loophole: The terms say you can swap the crypto for other crypto or even stocks/ETFs. However, you'll still have to pay a fee to sell off your crypto, and rapid price fluctuations could wipe out your bonus entirely. Be sure to check your app for the offer and whether you are eligible!
Why This Matters for Your Strategy
News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.
As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
