Previously, you needed a Morgan Stanley brokerage account to get this particular version of the Platinum card. The Amex Platinum card already comes with a ton of perks like travel credits and lounge access, but the Morgan Stanley version has a few extra goodies! So, why should you care? Well, the Morgan Stanley Platinum sweetens the deal with a potential $695 engagement bonus each year. The engagement bonus can be triggered by having a certain amount of assets with Morgan Stanley. Now that you only need a (free) E*Trade account, you'll gain access to the MS Amex Platinum and therefore a shot at getting the annual engagement bonus. While the engagement bonus might require a bit of financial juggling to unlock (depending on the terms and your assets), simply holding an E*Trade account opens this card's door to everyone.
