Wells Fargo Business Checking Fees Going Up: Here's What You Need to Know
Published on January 9, 2026, 9:10 PM
Heads up, Wells Fargo business checking customers! The bank is making some changes to the Initiate Business Checking account, and it's going to hit your wallet if you're not careful. Specifically, the monthly service fee is jumping from $10 to $15 starting March 1, 2026.
Now, you can avoid the fee, but the requirements are also changing. Currently, you can dodge the fee by maintaining a $500 minimum *daily* balance or a $1,000 *average ledger* balance. However, starting March 1, 2026, the $1,000 average ledger balance option is GONE. The minimum daily balance to waive the fee is also increasing to $2,000. You can also maintain a $5,000 combined account balance or hold certain premium checking accounts.
Why should you care? Well, many of us opened these accounts to snag those sweet signup bonuses Wells Fargo offered. If you're only keeping the minimum amount needed to avoid fees, you'll need to adjust your strategy or be prepared to pay that extra $5 each month. Mark your calendars for March 1, 2026, and decide whether to adjust your balance or find a new business banking home!
