Chase and IHG just launched the most aggressive premium hotel card of the year. The new IHG One Rewards Premier Select World Elite Mastercard, open to applications since October 1, carries a $350 annual fee — and pays you 200,000 bonus points for spending $5,000 in the first three months. At the standard valuation of 0.6 cents per IHG point, that haul is worth $1,200.
This is not just another card in the lineup. It arrives alongside a full refresh of IHG's credit card portfolio: the standard IHG Premier card loses automatic Platinum Elite status (down to Gold), while the Premier Select becomes the only consumer IHG card with automatic Platinum, 20 elite night credits a year, a $200 airline credit, and up to $300 in food and beverage rewards.
The catch, and it is a real one: most of that $500 in annual credits comes with expiration dates attached. The $300 in dining rewards arrives as $75 quarterly vouchers that die at the end of each quarter, and the airline credit requires a single $250-plus airline purchase — and is only guaranteed through December 31, 2027. IHG is betting you will not collect everything you are owed.
Exact offer and eligibility
- Welcome bonus: 200,000 IHG One Rewards points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Limited-time offer; applications must be submitted by November 18, 2026.
- Authorized user bonus: 10,000 additional points after adding an authorized user within the first three months.
- Annual fee: $350.
- Eligibility: Not available to current or previous holders of this card who received a new-cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. Holding another IHG One Rewards card (personal or business) does not make you ineligible. Chase's 5/24 rule applies.
- Bonus value: At 0.6 cents per IHG point (October 2026 valuations), 200,000 points = $1,200 in hotel stays.
- Earning rates: Up to 28 points per dollar on IHG stays (12x from the card, up to 10x from membership, up to 6x from Platinum Elite status), 6x on dining and all other travel including rideshare, 3x on all other purchases.
- Key benefits: Up to $300 in annual food and beverage rewards ($75 voucher each quarter, redeemable during an IHG stay); anniversary free night certificate capped at 60,000 points (toppable with points from your account for more expensive nights); automatic Platinum Elite status; 20 elite night credits each calendar year; fourth reward night free on consecutive four-night award stays.
- Travel credits: $200 airline statement credit per calendar year on direct airline purchases of at least $250 (only guaranteed through December 31, 2027); up to $50 in United TravelBank cash per year (two $25 semi-annual credits); up to $120 Global Entry/TSA PreCheck/Nexus credit every four years.
- Other: No foreign transaction fees; World Elite Mastercard benefits; 12 months of DashPass plus $10 monthly off a non-restaurant DoorDash order; 3 months of Instacart+ plus $10 monthly credits.
Do the math: the credits are worth less than they look
Start with the launch bonus, because it is genuinely the strongest IHG welcome offer available. The standard IHG Premier card's elevated offer is 180,000 points for $3,000 in spend with a $150 fee — 20,000 fewer points for $2,000 less spending. If you can comfortably hit $5,000 in three months, the Premier Select's 200,000 points are the better haul: $1,200 in value against a $350 fee, or roughly $850 net in year one before any benefits.
Now the recurring side, which is where IHG padded the fee justification. Add up the headline perks and you get $300 (food and beverage) + $200 (airline credit) + a 60,000-point free night worth about $360 = roughly $860 in stated annual value against a $350 fee. That arithmetic collapses the moment you read the redemption rules:
- The $75 quarterly food voucher must be redeemed during a single IHG stay, expires at quarter end, and any unused portion is forfeited. Collecting the full $300 means timing four IHG stays to four quarters. Miss one quarter and your effective annual value drops to $225.
- The $200 airline credit requires a single purchase of at least $250 booked directly with the airline — one $199 ticket earns you nothing. And the benefit is only confirmed through December 31, 2027, so do not underwrite year-two value on it.
- The anniversary free night carries a 60,000-point cap. At peak properties that cap matters: many InterContinental and Six Senses properties price well above 60,000 points per night, so you are topping off with your own points to make the certificate usable where it counts.
The honest year-one calculation: $1,200 bonus + up to $860 in benefits, minus $350 fee, minus whatever portion of the quarterly and airline credits your actual travel patterns leave unclaimed. A frequent IHG traveler who books four-plus IHG stays a year and one big airline ticket will clear $1,000-plus in net value. An occasional IHG guest will not.
Who benefits—and who should skip it
Road warriors loyal to IHG: If your year already includes four or more IHG stays — Holiday Inn Express regulars, consultants living in Crowne Plazas, InterContinental loyalists — the quarterly $75 vouchers turn into real room-bill money, and the anniversary night becomes a free $300-plus hotel stay.
Status chasers: The 20 automatic elite night credits instantly unlock the first Milestone Reward each year, and $25,000 in annual card spending earns Diamond Elite — a path that no longer exists on the standard Premier card. If Diamond was your goal, this card just cut the required nights materially.
Big spenders who can bank the credits: The $250-minimum airline purchase is one Southwest or United round trip booked direct. If you buy at least one flight a year directly from an airline, the $200 credit is nearly free money through 2027.
Who should skip: Anyone who stays at IHG fewer than four times a year will bleed quarterly vouchers; the card then functions as a $350 fee for Platinum status and a free night — poor value against the $150 IHG Premier card, which still offers a 180,000-point bonus, a 50,000-point anniversary night, and 15 elite night credits. Travelers over Chase's 5/24 limit should also wait rather than burn an application slot. And if you already hold the old IHG Premier with grandfathered Platinum status, run the numbers before switching: your $150 card may be the better deal until its 2027 fee change takes effect.
Awardtrail analysis
The Premier Select is a real product with a real launch bonus — 200,000 points through November 18 is the largest IHG welcome offer ever, and the $5,000 spending requirement is modest for the segment. Apply before the deadline if you want the haul.
But do not confuse the launch offer with the card's permanent value proposition. After year one, this is a $350 card whose fee you justify through four timed hotel stays and one specific airline purchase a year. Before applying, calendar your next twelve months: can you honestly place an IHG stay in each quarter? Will you make at least one direct airline purchase over $250 before December 31, 2027? If either answer is no, the standard IHG Premier's 180,000-point bonus at a $150 fee is the sharper play.
One more thing to watch: the $200 airline credit's expiration after 2027 means IHG and Chase can quietly let it lapse. Treat the card's long-term value as the free night plus the food vouchers plus status — and value the airline credit only for what you can bank now.
