Great news for those dreaming of exploring Down Under! You can now use your British Airways Avios points to book short-haul flights on QantasLink, Qantas' regional airline. This opens up a whole bunch of new destinations within Australia that were previously harder to reach with points.
Why should you care? Well, if you've been hoarding Avios, this is a fantastic way to stretch their value and see more of Australia without spending a fortune. Avios are relatively easy to accumulate through credit card bonuses and everyday spending, so this makes those smaller Australian destinations much more accessible.
Keep an eye on the Avios rates, as they can vary. Do a quick search on the British Airways website to see if using Avios makes sense compared to paying cash, especially if there are sales. Happy travels!
Why This Matters for Your Strategy
News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.
As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
