Heads up, Texas shoppers! H-E-B is running a sweet deal from November 28th to 30th, 2025: Spend $100 or more on select gift cards and snag a $20 H-E-B gift card. This is a great way to essentially get a 20% discount on future groceries or other H-E-B goodies.
The promotion looks like it includes Visa, Mastercard, and American Express gift cards (the variable load kind). So, you could buy a $100 (or higher) Visa gift card, get your $20 H-E-B gift card, and then use the Visa gift card for everyday spending. Just remember there is a limit of one.
Why is this awesome? Well, you're basically getting free money! Plus, pro-tip: Use a credit card that earns bonus points at grocery stores to maximize your rewards. This is an easy way to rack up those points or cashback while stocking up on gift cards for later use. Thanks to Doctor of Credit reader Terry for the heads up.
Why This Matters for Your Strategy
News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.
As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
