Hertz Points Expiration: Don't Let Your Rental Rewards Vanish!
Published on November 20, 2025, 9:02 PM
Heads up, Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members! You might want to check your points balance, because Hertz has a slightly tricky expiration policy. It's not just about being active in the program; your points also have a limited lifespan. Basically, Hertz points expire if you don't have any qualifying activity in your account for 18 months. Qualifying activity includes renting a car, redeeming points, transferring points, or earning points with partners. HOWEVER, even if you're active, your points will still expire after a whopping *seven years* from when they were earned, regardless of activity. This two-pronged approach is different from many other rewards programs, so it's easy to get caught off guard. Why does this matter? Well, nobody wants their hard-earned points to disappear! Make sure you track when you earned your points. Even a small rental or a quick points transfer can keep your balance alive if you're nearing that 18-month inactivity mark. Set a reminder on your calendar, and happy travels!
