Heads up, Amex Membership Rewards fans! There's a change coming to the Cathay Pacific Asia Miles transfer rate, and it's not good news. Starting March 1, 2026, the transfer rate from Amex MR points to Asia Miles will drop from 1:1 to 5:4. Basically, for every 5,000 Amex points you transfer, you'll only get 4,000 Asia Miles. Why does this matter to you? If you're planning on using your Amex points for Cathay Pacific flights, especially those luxurious long-haul redemptions, you'll need to transfer more points to get the same number of miles. This effectively makes those flights more expensive in terms of points. The good news is that you have almost two years to plan before the change kicks in, so you could start racking up those miles now or consider other transfer partners.
