Redstone FCU Card Gets a Makeover: Is It Still Worth It?

Redstone Federal Credit Union is shaking things up with their credit card rewards program, and not in a good way for many. Previously, the card offered a sweet 5% back on restaurants and gas, 3% on groceries, wholesale clubs, utilities, phone, and streaming, and 1.5% on everything else. But hold on to your hats because those days are ending.
The card is switching to a system where you pick ONE category for 5% back each quarter, choosing from options like travel, Amazon, restaurants, or home improvement. There's a $1,500 spending cap per quarter on that bonus category. If you don't pick a category, it defaults to restaurants until Q1 2026. After that, you get nothing if you don't choose. Gas and groceries drop to 2%, and everything else stays at 1.5%. This matters because if you were racking up rewards across multiple categories, you'll now need to strategize and potentially find other cards to fill the gaps. This card is also now only available in AL and TN.
