Want to become a true award travel ninja? The key might lie in mastering the art of "positioning flights"! Basically, instead of starting your journey at your local airport, you book a separate, cheaper flight to another airport where a better award deal originates.

Why does this matter? Well, sometimes flights from smaller airports just don't have the same award availability or competitive pricing as flights from larger hubs. By taking a cheap, often budget airline flight (the "positioning flight") to that bigger airport, you open yourself up to a much wider range of award options and potentially save a ton of miles or cash.

Think of it like this: instead of only looking at flights from your home airport to Paris, you might find a screaming deal from New York to Paris. A quick and inexpensive flight from your home to New York could unlock that amazing award flight. It takes a little more planning, but the savings can be HUGE! The AwardWallet Blog has the full scoop on how to find and book these money-saving positioning flights.
