Capital One just tightened up their bonus rules for the Venture X and Venture cards, and it's something you should know if you're chasing those sweet signup bonuses. Basically, they're now treating the Venture X and the regular Venture card as one big happy family when it comes to eligibility.

What does this mean? Previously, some folks were able to snag the bonus on both cards by waiting 48 months between applications. Now, if you've received a bonus for either the Venture X or the Venture card in the past 48 months, you're out of luck for getting the bonus on the other. So, if you recently grabbed that Venture X bonus, you'll need to wait a full four years before you can get the Venture bonus, and vice versa.

Why does this matter to you? If you were planning on grabbing both bonuses eventually, you'll want to factor this new rule into your strategy. Plan carefully and make sure you're prioritizing the card that best fits your travel goals first, since you'll be waiting a while before you can get the other one!

Why This Matters for Your Strategy

News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.

As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
