Bank of America's Back with a Savings Bonus... But Is It Worth It?
Published on October 3, 2025, 9:47 PM
Bank of America is sending out targeted offers for a savings account bonus, potentially netting you up to $750! The deal: deposit new money into a new or existing BoA savings account and maintain it for about 90 days. The bonus tiers are $250 for a $20,000 deposit, $500 for $50,000, or $750 for $100,000. The offer is targeted, so check your email for a message with the subject line "<name>, get up to a $750 cash bonus". Here's why this matters to you, the award travel enthusiast: while a free $750 sounds tempting, the interest rate on the account is a measly 0.01% APY. Crunching the numbers, the $250 bonus for the $20,000 deposit gives you the best annualized return at 5%, but the other tiers offer diminishing returns. With many high-yield savings accounts and even some money market accounts offering much better rates these days, you could likely earn more elsewhere without locking up such a large chunk of change. So, unless you're already swimming in BoA accounts or have a specific reason to bank with them, this bonus might not be the most strategic move for maximizing your travel funds.
