Citi Strata Elite Card: Huge Bonus & Premium Perks, But Is It Worth the Price Tag?

Citi just dropped a publicly available offer for the Strata Elite card: a whopping 100,000 ThankYou points after spending $6,000 within a certain timeframe. That's a sweet deal for a stash of points you can use for travel! This matters to you because it's a substantial bonus, potentially worth hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars in free travel depending on how you redeem those points. Think flights on American Airlines, JetBlue, or even fancy hotels.
But hold on, there's more to the story. The card comes with a hefty $595 annual fee, which is partly offset by perks like a $300 annual hotel credit, a $200 "Splurge Credit" for select merchants like American Airlines or Best Buy, a $200 Blacklane credit (for fancy car service), Priority Pass lounge access (sadly, no restaurant credits), and Admirals Club lounge passes. You'll also get a credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. The card also earns ThankYou points at elevated rates for travel booked through Citi's portal, restaurants, and general spending. If you can maximize the credits and value the lounge access, it could definitely offset the fee.
Before you jump in, consider if you can realistically hit that $6,000 spending requirement, and whether you will actually *use* all the credits. Also, note that a previous, leaked offer for the same card had a lower spending requirement ($4,000), but some applicants were asked to provide a tax form (4506-C). It's unclear if this is still happening. Finally, if you're a Citigold or Private Client customer, you might get a discount on the annual fee. So, do your homework before applying!
