Southwest Points on Sale: Is It Worth Buying?

Heads up, Southwest fans! Southwest is running a promotion where you can buy Rapid Rewards points with a discount of up to 50%. That brings the price down to as low as 1.5 cents per point. The big question is: should you jump on this deal?
The answer, as always, depends. Southwest points are typically worth around 1.3 to 1.5 cents each when you redeem them for flights. So, if you can snag them at 1.5 cents each, and you *know* you'll use them for a flight where they're worth more, it could make sense. Maybe you have a specific flight in mind that's unusually expensive in cash but reasonable in points? Or maybe you're just a few points short of a reward flight.
However, don't buy points speculatively! Southwest prices are closely tied to cash prices, so you aren't likely to find outsized value. Also consider other options to earn points faster, such as credit card spending. Crunch the numbers before you buy!
