Heads up, deal hunters! The U.S. Mint is dropping another coin on Monday, November 10th, at noon ET: the 250th Anniversary Marine Corps Silver Proof Coin. It'll set you back $105 plus $5.95 shipping, and there's a limit of one per person. So, why should you care?
Well, these things tend to sell for more than the purchase price on the secondary market. Doctor of Credit estimates you could pocket a cool $60 or more in profit! The key is to lock in a sale price before you buy the coin to eliminate risk. Also, a friendly reminder to be aware that there may be some comment manipulation on different purchaser sites.
Finally, and this is crucial: make sure you use a credit card that doesn't treat U.S. Mint purchases as cash advances (that would eat into your profit!). Check out Doctor of Credit's dedicated post for the best cards to use. Happy minting!
Why This Matters for Your Strategy
News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.
As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
