Safeway's FreshPass: Is it Worth it for Points and Perks?

Hey awardtrail readers, Safeway (and its sister stores like Albertson's and Vons) just rolled out a subscription service called FreshPass. Think of it as a grocery store loyalty program on steroids. Normally, it costs $99 a year, but you can snag it for just $49 for the first year if you sign up before December 9th, 2025. So, what do you get for your money? First, you get unlimited free grocery delivery on orders over $30. Second, they toss in a $5 credit each month to spend in-store. Next, they offer exclusive monthly perks at Starbucks. Finally, you'll also receive a 5% discount on O Organics and Open Nature products. Why should you care? If you're a frequent Safeway shopper and value the convenience of grocery delivery, this could be a no-brainer, especially at the discounted first-year price. The monthly credit and Starbucks perks sweeten the deal. For the points and miles enthusiast, this could be a good way to rack up rewards on your credit card while doing your regular shopping, and avoiding delivery fees if you don't want to go into the store.
