Heads up, Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders! It looks like Chase might be rolling out upgrade bonus offers to entice you to jump up to the Sapphire Reserve. This news comes from a verified Chase support representative on Reddit, so it's pretty reliable.
Why should you care? Well, these upgrade bonuses can be pretty sweet, potentially giving you a chunk of extra points for making the leap to the Reserve. The Sapphire Reserve comes with a higher annual fee but also packs more premium travel benefits, like higher point multipliers on travel and dining, airport lounge access, and better travel protections.
Now, the details are still fuzzy. We don't know exactly when these offers will appear, how generous they'll be, or if they'll be targeted to specific cardholders. But if you've been thinking about upgrading, it might be smart to hold off for a few weeks and see if an offer pops up. It could be a great way to boost your points balance and unlock even more travel perks!
Why This Matters for Your Strategy
News in the points-and-miles world moves fast, and promotional changes often have a short window. If this announcement affects a card or program you hold, log into your awardtrail dashboard to check your current benefit usage, bonus progress, and whether a transfer or redemption makes sense right now — before terms change.
As a general rule: transfer points only when you have a specific redemption in mind — transfers are almost always one-way and non-reversible. If you're unsure of the value, check our redemption guides before acting.
