Revolut Boosts Savings Rates, But Is It Worth the Metal Price Tag?

Revolut, the fintech company, is now offering high-yield savings accounts, and the rates are pretty tempting, especially if you're looking to park some cash. They've tiered the interest rates based on your Revolut plan. Standard users get 4%, Premium users get 4.5%, and Metal users get a whopping 5.5% APY (Annual Percentage Yield) on balances up to $10,000.
Now, here's the catch: the Premium and Metal plans come with monthly fees ($9.99 and $16.99, respectively). While 5.5% sounds amazing, the Doctor of Credit folks crunched the numbers, and it looks like only the Metal tier even comes close to being worthwhile. Even then, you're only netting an extra $70 a year compared to other high-yield accounts, which might not be enough to justify that $16.99 monthly fee.
So, what does this mean for you? If you're already a Revolut Metal user, this could be a nice perk. But if you're considering upgrading *just* for the higher savings rate, do the math carefully. There are plenty of other high-yield savings accounts out there that might offer a better deal without the monthly subscription. Always compare and see what works best for your financial situation!
