Southwest Airlines, known for its free checked bags and no-frills approach, might be entering the lounge game! Public documents indicate they're planning to build their first airport lounge in Honolulu. Details are scarce, but this is a big deal. Southwest has always focused on keeping costs down and passing those savings on to passengers.

Why should you care? Well, if Southwest does this right, it could be a game-changer for budget travelers. Imagine pre-flight relaxation and maybe even some free snacks and drinks, all while sticking to Southwest's affordable fares. While there aren't many details available yet, this could mean a whole new level of comfort and convenience for Southwest flyers, especially on those longer inter-island or mainland flights to and from Hawaii.

Keep in mind, it's early days. We don't know about access (will it be a Priority Pass lounge, or exclusive to certain Southwest customers?), amenities, or even a firm opening date. But as more details emerge, we'll keep you updated here at AwardTrail. This is definitely something to watch if you're a fan of maximizing value on your travels!
