Efficient Earning Methods
Hyatt points are highly sought after because of their high value. Thankfully, they are easy to earn if you use the Chase ecosystem.
| Method | Points Earned & Strategy |
|---|---|
| Chase UR Transfers | The gold standard. 1:1 transfers from Sapphire and Ink cards. The fastest way to earn. |
| Co-branded Chase Cards | World of Hyatt personal and business cards offer high SUBs and elite night credits. |
| Bilt Rewards | Bilt points transfer 1:1 to Hyatt, making it great for renters to earn Hyatt points. |
| Hotel Stays | Earn 5x base points per dollar, plus 10-30% bonuses for elite members. |
| Elite Bonuses | Status adds to your base 5x: Discoverist (+10%), Explorist (+20%), Globalist (+30%). |
Point Mechanics & Optimization
Hyatt points are consistently valued at 1.7 - 2.5¢ per point. Always calculate your Cents Per Point (CPP) before booking: (Cash Price - Taxes) / Points Required.
Points expire after 24 months of inactivity. Any "Qualifying Activity" (earning, redeeming, or even buying points) resets the clock for another 2 years.
You can combine points with any member for free once every 30 days. Digital sharing is rolling out in late 2026; currently requires a PDF form.
Limit of 55,000 points per year. Only buy during 20-30% bonus promotions if you have a specific, high-value redemption in mind.
Official Award Charts (Standard Rooms)
Point requirements are now determined by demand-based tiers. Once a date is set to a tier, the point cost remains fixed for that night.

- Free Night Certificates: Category 1-4 and 1-7 awards now cover all 5 tiers within their respective category limits.
- Fixed Value: Unlike dynamic programs (Hilton/Marriott), Hyatt's tiers are published and predictable.
- Points + Cash: Book stays using 50% of the points and 50-70% of the cash rate to stretch your balance.
Strategy: Hunt for 'Lowest' Tier
The Best Deals (Sweet Spots)
Strategic redemptions that consistently deliver 3.0+ cents per point in value under the new system:
Book legendary Category 7 or 8 hotels like Park Hyatt Paris or Kyoto. Even at 'Moderate' rates (35k-55k), cash prices often exceed $1,500/night.
Points cover room, food, and drinks for the whole family. Categories C & D offer the best sweet spot for premium beach vacations.
Global Category 1 hotels can cost as little as 3,000 points ('Lowest' tier). Perfect for road trips and long-term travel.
The partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World remains a top way to find unique, high-value boutique redemptions.
