How to Earn Flying Club Points
Virgin points are some of the easiest to collect because they partner with nearly every major flexible credit card currency. If you have a travel rewards card, you can probably get Virgin points.
Method | Description |
---|---|
Credit Card Transfers | This is Virgin's superpower. They are a transfer partner of every major bank: Amex, Chase, Citi, Capital One, and Bilt. This makes their points incredibly easy to earn. |
Co-branded Credit Cards | You can earn points directly with the Virgin Atlantic World Elite Mastercard® from Bank of America. |
Flying Virgin & Partners | Earn points when you fly on Virgin Atlantic or its partner airlines, including the SkyTeam alliance. |
How to Use Flying Club Points
Forget about redeeming for flights on Virgin Atlantic itself (unless you find a great deal). The real magic of this program is in its partner award charts.
- One Chart Per Partner: Virgin has a separate award chart for each of its airline partners. You have to look up the specific chart for the airline you want to fly to find the price.
- You May Need to Call: Some partner awards (like Delta) can be booked online, but many of the best ones (like ANA) require you to call Virgin Atlantic to book.
How to Book ANA Awards
The Best Deals (Sweet Spots)
The value of this program comes alive when you use it for these specific partner awards:
This is one of the best deals in the entire world of points and miles. Fly round-trip to Japan on partner ANA in their incredible First Class for as few as 145,000 points, or Business Class for just 90,000 points.
Use just 50,000 Virgin points to book a one-way Delta One business class seat to Europe. Best of all, there are no fuel surcharges when you depart from the US.
Another fantastic option for getting to Europe in a lie-flat seat. Availability is often better than on Delta, and the taxes are still very reasonable.
Redeeming on Virgin's own stylish planes can be a good deal, especially during off-peak dates. Just be aware of the high taxes and fees when flying out of the UK.
Partners & Rules
Virgin Atlantic is a member of the SkyTeam alliance, but its most valuable redemptions are often with its unique non-alliance partners.
- Key SkyTeam Partners: Delta, Air France, KLM, Korean Air.
- The Golden Geese (Non-Alliance): All Nippon Airways (ANA), Hawaiian Airlines, South African Airways.
- Know the Rules: Each partner has its own rules. For example, ANA awards must be round-trip. Most other partner awards are priced per flight segment.
