Amazon Prime Members, Check Your Accounts! You Might Be Owed Money!

Big news for Amazon Prime members! The FTC just hammered out a $2.5 billion settlement with Amazon over allegations that they used sneaky tactics to get people to sign up for Prime and made it a nightmare to cancel. The good news? $1.5 billion of that is going back to consumers like you in the form of refunds, capped at $51 per person! Plus, Amazon has to clean up its act when it comes to enrollment and cancellation.
So, who's eligible and how do you get your cut? If you signed up for or struggled to cancel your Prime membership between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you might be in line for some cash. Amazon is planning two waves of refunds. The first wave is automatic and will go out within 90 days to those who signed up through a "challenged enrollment flow" and haven't used many Prime benefits (less than 3). These folks get the full $51 without having to do anything! The second wave will require you to file a claim on a settlement website. This applies if you had trouble canceling, or signed up through a challenged enrollment flow and used less than 10 prime benefits.
What's a "challenged enrollment flow?" Think tricky sign-up pages within Prime Video, or during checkout. The Doctor of Credit folks think most people won't qualify for the automatic refund, but keep an eye out! Once the settlement website is live, we'll be sure to let you know so you can file your claim and hopefully snag some money back.
